你可能不知道他是誰，但他的作品你絕對見過！在墨爾本、多倫多、邁阿密、雪梨、香港等多個城市皆引起極大迴響的英國塗鴉藝術家Banksy，這次以展覽的樣貌首度來台！雖然 Banksy以街頭的噴漆聞名，但你知道Banksy也有還有為唱片封面創作嗎？他的作品其實經常出現在各樂團的專輯封面上，因此有人認為身分成謎的Banksy與不少地下樂團、饒舌歌手、DJ等關係匪淺。本次展覽收錄囊括Banksy的塗鴉、專輯等代表作品，將這些來自於各國收藏家，包含知名的《氣球女孩》、《擲花者》、《凝固汽油彈》、《炸彈之愛》等作品，超過60幅作品一次展出！
You may not know who he is, but you must have seen his art-works! Banksy is an anonymous England-based street artist. The touring collection has aroused great repercussions in many cities such as Melbourne, Toronto, Miami, Sydney, Hong Kong, etc. Although Banksy is famous for graffiti-artist, did you know that he also has famous in cover art of album? In fact, his art-works sometimes are used on the album covers, so some people guess that Banksy, who might know many indie bands, rappers, and DJs. The touring collection, which displays more than 60 pieces, the first exhibit of the Banksy’s artworks in Taiwan. There, you can discover iconic works such as Girl with Balloon, Flower Chucker, Napalm, Bomb Love, etc.

Banksy的創作詼諧大膽，用黑色幽默的方式無聲訴說他對社會現況的抨擊，他那圍繞著宣戰與對立的題材、充斥爭議的創意讓他成為當今最具爭議性及代表性的街頭藝術家，近年來一直擁有極高的關注度及討論度。Banksy經常將容易與積極正向的詞彙聯想在一起的角色，進行帶有諷刺意味的藝術行為，顛覆你的世界觀，反戰、反暴力等主題在他的作品中貫徹始終，例如在《凝固汽油彈》中，牽著被汽油彈燒毀的女孩卻面帶招牌微笑的米老鼠和麥當勞叔叔、被火箭炮擊落的《小飛象》…….他以最殘忍的對比去諷刺，當純真受到戰火的無情摧殘，這些自由成長的機會便淪為戰爭之中的犧牲品……本次展覽依抗爭、資本主義、政治、戰爭、暴力等主題劃分展區，透過Banksy具高度批判性的作畫，感受深藏於圖面之下的警世意味。
Banksy’s art-works are ironically and intrepid. On his way to becoming an international icon, the subversive and secretive graffiti-artist turned the art world upside-down. He often targets established social and political agendas with his witty illustrations produced with stencils. For example, Napalm Girl which features a reproduction of an iconic photograph of a young girl during a napalm bombing in Vietnam in the seventies. In Banksy’s version the terrified naked girl is caught between Ronald McDonald and Mickey Mouse. Dumbo is a darkly-themed artwork that shows jihadists standing on and around a slain cartoon elephant named Dumbo that symbolizes the treachery of radicalized movements toward the innocence and vulnerability of youth. These art-works show innocence and purity, good and evil unified and questioned as to why we inherently indulge in war and fighting when peace can be all around us. With this exhibition comes thought-provoking stuff.

Banksy最為人知曉的事件是他將自己在拍賣會上以價值千萬台幣售出的作品《氣球女孩》在落槌那一刻啟動內建碎紙機自毀，毫不給面子地擺了拍賣市場一道，他引用畢卡索的名言表示：「對於破壞的嚮往，同時也是一種對創造嚮往。」在這憤世嫉俗的驚人之舉的背後，是對將藝術「貨幣化」的拍賣行為無聲抗議，更是對藝術拍賣的譏諷。Banksy對非洲難民相當關注，近期，他便用自己在拍賣會上的所得購買救援船，橫渡地中海拯救難民；特別為站在新冠肺炎疫情第一線的醫護人員創作，舉行慈善拍賣為英國國民保健署籌款。而除此之外，Banksy還曾經在英國脱歐之際，以《猴子會議》這幅創作戲謔諷刺當下混亂的政治局面；將明顯是偽造的《佩克漢石塊》偷渡進大英博物館…。有人說，Banksy就像是一位社會評論家。在2010年他更被《時代雜誌》票選最有影響力的100人之一，藉由極具人文精神的塗鴉藝術，打破了國家和地域的限制，讓全世界的人們看見他所看見的社會議題、思考他所思考的世界課題，而透過本次的展出，你又將認識到什麼樣的Banksy？看見怎麼樣的世界？一起來親眼揭曉吧！
Banksy’s most well-known audacious stunt, which saw him remotely shred his $1.1 million Girl with Balloon canvas seconds after it sold at auction, stunned the world. He defended the stunt with a quote from Picasso: “The urge to destroy is also a creative urge.” Behind this cynical and astonishing stunt is an attack on capitalist values, and it also showed a sense of compassion. Banksy is very concerned about African refugees. Recently, he has funded a rescue boat, by using his proceeds from auctions, to save refugees encountering danger in the Mediterranean Sea. Banksy also cares for the COVID-19 frontline healthcare workers. He created an artwork to honor healthcare professionals combating COVID-19, and he held a charity auction to raise funds for the British National Health Service. In addition, Banksy used his artwork "Monkey Parliament" to satirize the current chaotic political situation during the transition period of Brexit; Smuggling a fake "Peckham Stones" into the British Museum.... Some people say that Banksy is like a social commentator. In 2010, Time Magazine Top 100 sees entry from Banksy. His graffiti art breaks the restrictions of national and regional. We can concern the global issues through his art-works. This exhibition features many art-works that let you experience the view of Banksy’s world.
